Six Down, Six To Go
What a thoroughly depressing update this will be. As I arrived here on September the 9th, and I will leave 20th August, somewhere in February or March we passed the halfway mark. I didn’t want to have to admit it myself but here I am, writing the update that marks the start of the countdown. To make things worse, I’ve added a counter to the blog that will tell you exactly how long I have left. Why have I done that? I guess to remind myself my time here is limited and I need to get out and do even more crazy fun things.
I haven’t updated in some time because work has been really busy recently, as we just finished the final week of the final term for the schoolkids. It’s been kind of sad saying goodbye to classes who are leaving or who I won’t teach next year. (Although I had no problems saying goodbye to 1-6, who I had to shout at in our last class!) Because this term was so short, we actually had to say goodbye by giving them an English skit test. Not the nicest of farewells…
Currently we are not officially in work, but we are still teaching our adult classes so we are still putting on suits and eating rushed lunches. On Friday, I have a Japanese lesson, and then I’m done until April! Yay!
Before I carry on, I better put some pictures up. I went to visit Lynsey in Koenji, and we went to the shrine. As I am a fool I forgot to take my camera with me, so here are the best photos I could take on my phone. Excuse the quality.
Talking of cameras, I am planning to update from my dinky little camera to a nice powerful one. I’ve been planning to do a couple of different types of update for the blog, like “Exploring: <Area of Tokyo>” and also a big set on Shrines around Tokyo. But before I do I need to get a big, flashy new camera. So stay tuned for a sudden shift in photo quality!
I am also going to Kyoto for a couple of days late in March. I will leave on the 18th of March and be back on the 21st, just enough time to snap plenty of lovely photos. Finally, it’s my birthday on the 29th of March. Hint. Hint.
The next update should arrive on the 11th or soon afterwards, as I am going hiking with members of my Monday evening class. Sore feet ahoy!
